CHAR YONG (DABU) ASSOCIATION, SINGAPORE
DESIGN CONCEPT (COLLABORATION WITH OTHERS)
The new community building for the Association is to be relocated in Geylang area, where it is rich with various society profiles, both locals and foreigners. The project has potential to adapt to Singapore's multi-cultural values, while the community can enjoy the traditions of Hakka.
The design concept is adapted from the understanding of Hakka Architecture, people and their spirit – with strong character that signifies the stability of the building and spiritual strength of the people, and yet adaptable and flexible in their way of living for survival and continuation of their culture over time.
The architecture and programme within the new building shall aim to target a sustainable ecosystem for various related businesses, healthcare services, and community events to work together and relate to people today.
